The Tomb of the Unknowns is guarded 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in any weather by the Tomb Guard Sentinels.  The Tomb Guard Sentinels are all volunteers and are considered to be the best of the elite from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment.  The guard is changed every hour on the hour from October 1st until March 31st.  From April 1 until September 30th, the guard is changed every 1/2 hour during the open hours of the cemetery.
