Motorcycles, Dealing with the Traffic in India
Hyderabad Motorcycle Traffic (Above Photo)
Many Indian cities are extremely congested with traffic. It can take over an hour just to go a few kilometers. Many Indians drive scooters and motorcycles to maneuver through traffic.
You will see a large population of motorcycle riders in India weaving in between cars and through the traffic. Riding a motorcycle in India can seriously reduce your commute times. However, it can also be dangerous.
Indian Commute
As the motorcyclists swerve between the traffic, drivers have to anticipate their movements. Drivers in Indias also constantly use their horns to ensure other drivers are aware of their presence.
Motorcycle Mirror Reflection
Motorcycles provide a less expensive and more efficient form of transportation for families in India. In fact, you will often see entire families of 3, 4, or even 5 people on a single motorcycle or scooter. It can be scary to see a mother riding “side saddle” on a motorcycle and holder her baby.

Motorcycles are also used to transport and deliver supplies, milk or even some pieces of furniture. The motorcycle is truly the work horse of India.
