Photographing Acadia National Park – Thuya Garden
Thuya Garden is a hidden gem for Nature Photographers. It is located in Northeast Harbor, Maine on the south coast of Mount Desert Island away from the crowds of the top attractions of Acadia National Park.
Thuya Garden is a quiet, quaint place overlooking Northeast harbor that is away from the main attractions and crowds of Acadia National Park. When we visited Thuya Garden in late September, we were the only ones in the garden.
Thuya Garden is located off of route 3 (Peabody Drive). To get to the garden, you can either walk the ¼ mile long Asticou Terrace Trail off of Route 3 or drive up to the garden on Thuya Drive. The walking trail and climb provides a beautiful view of Northeast Harbor.
Thuya Garden allows tripods which is useful for macro and HDR photographs. There is a donation box when you enter the garden. The suggested donation is $5.
If you are looking to get away from the crowds of Acadia National Park for a few hours, give Thuya Garden a try.
