Photoshop filters and photo painting plugins can provide a lot of creativity to apply artistic effects to your photographs. Many customers of photography prints prefer an artistic or painted look to the art they hang on their walls. The problem is that there are so many filters and painting plugins that it is hard to determine which ones to purchase or try.
In this blog post, I took this landscape of El Capitan with the Merced River in the foreground and processed it with 6 different filters and plugins to give you an idea on what filters and plugins are available and the artistic effect they have on the photo. I give the preset and filter name under each photo. The presets are just the starting point. Each preset has sliders that allow you to fine tune the processing of the filter.
The plugin and filters that I use in this blog post are filters within Photoshop and plugins by Topaz Labs and AKVIS. Topaz Labs offers several plugins that apply artistic and creative looks to your photos. AKVIS is a lesser known Russian company that sells several plugins and applications for post processing your photos.
